Dave Wondrich Cuban Cocktail Recipes

Drink Factory friend and often partner in crime Mr Dave Wondrich, gave a very compelling talk this past Monday at The Museum of the American Cocktail. The talk was the most recent in a series of monthly events that feature renowned figures from within the industry.

Dave, the author of "Imbibe" and "Punch", delved into the rich and cultural history of Cuba, exploring the Cuban cocktail before, during and after prohibition.

Five cocktails were demonstrated during the seminar including El Presidente, a Daiquiri and a Gin Mojito. We are very pleased to bring you two of the slightly less well known drinks, the Longines Cocktail and the United Fruit. Sadly we don't have any images to accompany the drinks but tasting them should make up for it!

Longines cocktail
Put 1 oz strong, cold tea into a cocktail shaker
Stir in 1 barspoon sugar
Add 1 oz Ferrand 1840 cognac
Add 1 oz Anis del Mono
Strain into chilled cocktail glass and twist a swatch of thin-cut lemon peel over the top
For the tea:
Pour half a cup of boiling water over a black-tea teabag and let stand for 5 minutes.
Remove the teabag and chill the tea until cold

United Fruit Cocktail

1 1/2 oz Plymouth Gin
3/4 oz Benedictine
